The importance of home care maintenance
for permanently
straightened hair |
| The Yuko System and Japan Hair Remake System offer
excellent treatments to permanently straighten and rejuvenate frizzy
and curly hair of most textures. However, these systems are still
a form of chemical process, which alters the hair texture permanently
until it grows out. Therefore, permanently straightened hair is also
chemically processed hair and does need more moisture and nutrients
as frequent supplements after the treatment. Valuable proteins and
supplements are present mainly in specialist home care products like
the Yuko System and Japan Hair Remake System products, not in commercial
products. For the revitalised straightened hair, these supplements
are hydrogenated proteins of collagen, elastin, silk and many other
proteins which were originally oil-based proteins for skin products
and are converted by the above companies into water-based proteins
which can be absorbed into hair. |
| |
| Why do you need
home care maintenance if hair has been rejuvenated during the treatment?
|
| During the treatment, lots of hydrogenated protein
molecules are imported into the centre of hair shaft, which help to
rejuvenate the hair. However, the molecules are like colour pigments
which can gradually fade away in the daily course of shampooing, combing,
sun-bathing, swimming and colouring etc, and need to be re-filled
continuously in order to keep the condition. Therefore, it is very
important to use our specialist product line and In-Salon Hair-Spa
Protein Treatment Service. We run the full line of home care products
from the Yuko System. We also provide in-salon Hair-Spa Protein Treatment
at a very competitive rate (£7.95 for each treatment or £50
for 10 treatments). Alternatively, clients can purchase the Home Care
system for everyday maintenance in order to keep the immaculate hair
condition. |

| Washing your hair properly - the key to beautiful
hair |
It's easy to damage hair even by simply
washing it. Each thin strand of hair is exposed during shampooing
and very hot water can deplete essential oils. Use water, which matches
body temperature or is around 100 degrees F to avoid hair being heated
and separated.
A strong jet will also harm hair density by eroding the cuticle or
washing off elements within the hair. Use moderate water pressure.
To shampoo your hair is to actually shampoo your scalp. Correct cleansing
away of oils and debris on the scalp will ensure not only natural
smoothness and shine of the hair, but also a healthier base for hair
growth. |
| |
| Shampoo stage |
| Firstly using your hands to encourage a thorough
soaking wet the entire hair in warm water. This should take around
3 minutes. Apply shampoo to the nape of the neck near the ears and
work upwards over the whole scalp, gently massaging the scalp with
the fingertips for around 2 minutes. Avoid rubbing or massaging the
hair itself, as the foam generated is enough to cleanse the hair.
For hair, which has become stiff from using mousse or gel, avoid brushing
the hair before shampooing and allow the foam to remain in the hair
for one minute. |
| |
| Rinsing stage |
| Rinse off by using a massaging stroke on the scalp.
Hair needs to be rinsed by pouring clean warm water directly onto
all the hair and not allowing water simply to flow down the shower
over the top of the head. It may take around 3 minutes to thoroughly
rinse hair. |
| |
| Conditioning stage |
| Apply conditioner on the ends of the hair for short
to medium-length hair for about 2 minutes. Longer hair requires conditioner
to be applied from half-way down to the ends of the hair for up to
10 minutes. Conditioning treatment replenishes damaged hair with nutrients
by penetrating inside each strand through the cuticle. Take care not
to rinse off teh conditioner entirely - hair should be left feeling
slightly slippery, enabling valuable nutrients to remain within the
hair. For badly damaged hair, conditioner can be applied before the
shampoo, on the ends of the hair only. Rub in gently, allowing nutrients
to be absorbed. It has become more common to use conditioning treatment
for most people after every wash, as today's fashions in hairstyling
often result in damaged hair. Particularly for hair that has been
bleached or dyed, a conditioning treatment after each wash is highly
recommended. |
| |
| Drying stage |
Once hair has been rinsed, it is good practise
to dry it. In fact, it is the scalp that needs to be dried more than
the hair. But before drying, make it a habit to give your scalp a
well-deserved minute's massage. Apply lotion to the scalp and gently
massage. This will allow the scalp to relax and protect itself from
scratches from fingernails during shampooing and also from elements
remaining in the shampoo or conditioner or even in the water.
Onto the drying process itself. Firstly sponge up as much water as
possible by wrapping hair up in a dry towel especially at the ends
where the water will collect naturally - wiping off the water by rubbing
vigorously with the towel will damage it. Immediately use a hair dryer
to dry the hair upwards from the nape of the neck towards the ends
of the hair. This way the hair at the top will not soak up water from
the ends. This will leave the hair looking fuller with more body.
Short hair can be dried completely in this way. Long hair can be styled
using roller brushes or curlers after 80% has been blow dried. Stop
blow drying only when the scapl is dry. Avoid leaving hair wet when
going to sleep. The moisture left in the hair can cause it to become
damaged and can bruise the hair strands. Equally mousse, wax and gel
should not be applied before going to sleep. |
