Eyelash Extensions
Frequently Asked Questions
How long do the lashes last?
Generally Lash Perfect can last up to 6-8 weeks from the time of application. The lifetime of your lashes depends on your hair growth cycle and lifestyle. Lash Extensions will last for the full life cycle of a natural lash. The average cycle is 50-60 days, which is the amount of time it takes for a natural lash to grow in, and fall out. We recommend touch-up appointments every 2 - 3 weeks, to fill in the areas where the natural lashes have fallen out and new lashes are growing in.
Are lashes good for holidays?
Yes perfect! You can swim and shower with no problem. Lashes will look good on the beach and around the pool. Your eyes will always look glamorous and give the appearance of mascara
How much do they cost?
Here at Rainbow Connection, we always keep our prices very competitive. A Full Set of Eyelash Extension costs £50 (RSP £80-£120), Top-up cost £15 (RSP £35).
Can I use my normal skin care products?
Yes, providing you avoid the eye area as any products containing oil will loosen the lash adhesive. Eye creams in particular must be used with care. Check with your therapist if you are in any doubt. Your lashes should be cleansed with Simple Eye Makeup Remover and rinsed off with luke warm water.
Can I wear mascara on Lash Extensions?
If you choose to wear mascara, you must make sure that you only wear a water-washable mascara
Can I wear my normal make-up?
Yes
Is it uncomfortable to have them applied?
No, not at all, it is in fact extremely relaxing.
Do I have to keep them maintained?
Maintenance is not necessary if you are having lash extensions applied for a special occasion or a holiday, the lashes will fall gradually daily and eventually over time you will be back to your own lashes.
What is the maintenance programme?
Many people like their lashes so much that they want to continue wearing the lashes indefinitely. This is achieved by visiting our Lash Professional every 2 weeks to top up any of the lashes that has fallen naturally as part of the normal growth cycle. Maintenance time will vary according to the length of time the lashes have been on, your Lash Therapist will be able to advise you
How long can I wear the lashes for?
Lashes can be worn for as long as you to wear them, our only recommendation is that a fresh set is applied every 10 weeks.
Can I have them if I wear contact lens?
Yes, there is no problem for customers who wear contact lens; however, we would recommend that you remove them before having eyelash extension applied.
Do they come in different lengths and thickness?
Yes. During consultation our Therapist will give you advice to help you to choose the best length and thickness to suit your lifestyle - we can offer you a soft natural effect or a defined glamorous effect and everything else in between!
Eyelash Extension After Care
Follow the guidelines for the best results:
- Take care when using your normal skincare products near the eye lid area as they may contain oil which may loosen bonding agent
- Eye make up should be removed with an oil free eye makeup remover, such as Boot's 'Simple' Eye Makeup Remover. Waterproof mascara should not be used.
- Avoid getting your lashes wet within the first 24-48 hours. Avoid saunas and steam for the first 2 days. Afterwards, feel free to rinse your lashes with warm water and pat them dry gently. Do not use cotton wool, use cotton buds instead.
- There are between 60-100 lashes applied to your eyes, the life cycle of lashes is about 3 to 6 weeks, it is therefore normal to experience the loss of a few lashes regularly.
- If you do not intend to use your lashes for long wearing, you do not need to come in for touch-ups, however, if you wish to keep them in as long as possible, you should then return every 10-14 days to check your lashes and to replace lashes that have shed as a natural life cycle.
- Do not pull the eyelashes off, but have them gently removed by your Eyelash Professional. The procedure is easy and will not ruin your own lashes.
- Lashes should not be permed or tinted, if you require an eyelash tint this should be done before application.
- Eyelash curlers should not be used.
- Do not pick, pull or rub your lashes.
- Gently groom your new lashes with an eyelash brush or comb
